Location: For this role we are open to remote work located anywhere within the United States and Canada.

About the Opportunity:

As part of the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team that is embedded within development teams, you will be responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of Dayforce. A comprehensive, modern cloud human capital management (HCM) software platform for managing the entire employee lifecycle.

In order to be successful a SRE will require a cross functional skill set and an understanding of the Dayforce system. A full mental model of how its functions will in turn allow SRE to work in situations where not all parameters are defined, and you will be required to "blaze new trails". That is, create solutions where none existed. You will need to help lead others from varied teams and technical backgrounds to find the required results as a group.

What you'll get to do:

  • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement
  • Guide service teams before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews
  • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health
  • Strives for automation either by coding it or by leading and influencing developers to build systems that are easy to run in production
  • Provide a organizational leadership by practicing sustainable incident response postmortems
  • Measure the risk of introduced features to plan ahead and improve the infrastructure to mitigate customer impact
  • Proposes and drives architectural changes that affect the whole company to solve scaling and performance problems
  • Lead significant project work for the team
  • Collaborate with across the organization and help create, define, and maintain SLAs & SLOs.



Skills and Experience we value:

  • Has a systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive

  • Trusted to de-escalate conflicts inside and outside the team
  • Routinely has an impact on the broader Engineering organization
  • Experience writing code: C#, Java, Go, Python or PowerShell
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience working with public cloud vendors
  • Experience creating Disaster Recovery and High Availability strategies
  • Experience Load balancing the application including Proxies and CDN
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and tools such as Terraform
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerization
  • Experience with creating monitoring platforms
  • Experience with source control management practices and advanced branching techniques
