About the Role
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) you will combine software and systems engineering to build and run large, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance. Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation.
Particle Health’s software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that will change how millions of patients are able to leverage their medical records to better their care. Our products need to simplify healthcare data standards at nationwide scale. We’re looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including other healthtech companies, information retrieval, distributed computing, security, machine learning and natural language processing.
Areas of Responsibility
- Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation; evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
- Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.

- Prioritize progress before perfection. They deliver solutions incrementally and predictably.
- Always be learning. They bring action orientation and seek to continuously improve the teams they work with. They excel in a culture centered on open communication, strong feedback, quick experimentation, blamelessness, and embracing failure to learn from it.
- Be a strong communicator. They believe in open and honest communication and work to cultivate this within the team and organization. They approach everything with an open mind and listen to different perspectives when determining a path forward
- Build and participate in a respectful, inclusive culture. They prioritize the success and well-being of the team over individual results.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field involving software/systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
