At Bank of America, Site reliability Engineers are members of a team. The individual in this role is responsible for directly partnering with Application Development and Production Support teams to implement the measures prescribed through the collaboration of the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Lead or Senior SRE and their partners. This individual will ensure the appropriate instrumentation, tooling, ticketing, alerting and on-call routines are in place for key services.

Required Job Skills

  • Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages as well as common scripting languages such as Python, Ruby and PowerShell
  • Experiencing developing scripts to automate routine operational activities, ideally executed using a tool like Bladelogic or Ansible Tower
  • Experience identifying root cause of complex Production incident by analyzing application thread and heap dumps
  • Familiar with the SRE role, tool sets and processes within the software / infrastructure lifecycle
  • Strong, courageous communicator capable of effectively communicating, verbally, via emails and instant messaging, to both technical and business teams
  • Capable of periodically providing on call support outside of normal working hours
  • Capable of working in high pressure situations
  • Shares new ideas and consistently demonstrates openness to the opinions and views of others. Identifies new and different patterns, trends, and opportunities. Generates novel solutions. Seeks to involve other stakeholders in developing solutions to problems


Desired Skills

  • Experience using advanced monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Glassbox, and NetScout
  • Experience as a system administrator, database administrator, network administrator and/or middleware administrator
