Site Reliability Engineer
Job Description As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you'll help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and reducing work through automation. You'll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. In this environment, you'll take the lead on relevant projects, supported by an organization that provides the support and mentorship you need to learn and grow. As an SRE, you'll be focused on running better production applications and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Experience in consuming RESTful web services, JSON, and HTTP.
- Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning is plus.
- Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.
- Expert in at least one technology stack with designing, coding, testing , delivering software
- Expert practitioner in one or more technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert able to solve complex and mission critical problems within a business or across the firm
- Advanced User or DBA experience with relational databases: MS SQL, DB2 or Oracle.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure components. (E.g. Routers, load balancers , cloud products , container systems , compute, storage and networks)
- Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills
- Expert in in performance monitoring and capacity management of large systems using various tools
- Experience with the Agile delivery methodology
- Proficiency in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
- Operational knowledge of modern DevOps stack (E.g. Git, Jules, Jenkins, ServiceNow ICA, AIM) and ability to troubleshoot its processes
- Basic knowledge of operating system administrations / access control - MS Windows, Linux / UNIX
- Good knowledge of scripting languages (E.g. GO / JYTHON / PERL / UNIX SHELL / POWERSHELL / AUTOIT / BATCH)
- Ability to follow and enhance code in JAVA and / or .Net
- Experience with system integration / app troubleshooting / app optimizations, server deployments, application startups, connectivity, load balancing, firewalls, app performance
- Working knowledge of messaging technologies; JMS, MQ Series, Kafka
- Experience with app containers: WebSphere AS clusters; IIS/Microsoft Server; Tomcat; Spring Boot; Docker
- Working knowledge of JPMC internal systems (E.g. CAP, VERUM, CertVault/Venafi, AIM, GAIA, ServiceNow)
- Working knowledge of monitoring tools (E.g. Splunk, AppDynamics, Apica, Broadsword, etc.)
- Good understanding of SRE/DevOps concepts and drive for prod automation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a software engineering discipline
- Mastery in at least two or more software languages (e.g. Python, Java, Go, etc.) with respect to designing, coding, testing, and software delivery
- Adept in the development of automated tools, systems, and services in multiple technology domains
- Advanced knowledge of one or more infrastructure components (e.g. networking, cloud services, orchestration tools, containerization, compute, and storage systems)
- Proficiency in service-level changes to a system and troubleshooting components
