Position Overview


The Site Reliability Engineers objective is to "make things scale" which includes building software that automates experiences, developing utilities that provide insights/metrics, and providing instrumentation for the Engineering teams to more efficiently scale the platform.


Our guest experience management platform helps businesses curate amazing experiences for their customers, connecting existing disparate data points to tell a more comprehensive story of who the customer is, where they are in the moment, what they might enjoy and when helpful suggestions will be most beneficial. As part of the guest experience team, you’ll help bridge the digital divide between guests and businesses, helping guests to enjoy a better experience and businesses to cultivate loyal customers and drive revenue.

 

The Site Reliability Engineer will bring expertise in designing and supporting highly-scalable, highly-available Linux and Windows installations as well as patch management, security and compliance platforms, base image design and OS deployment automation. You will be involved in the design, implementation, and management of the related management platforms. You will debug problems in production and test environments, advise on best practices, and maintain high-volume clusters in multiple datacenters. You will develop automation that improves deployment speed and reliability of RHEL and Windows platforms.


Location: United States; then, you choose what works for you! This role can be performed 100% remotely anywhere in the US, at one of our office locations in the US, or a hybrid version of in-office and remote. 

Reports to: Engineering Manager, SRE

Travel Requirement: Up to 25%

Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluate environment and implement standards according to best practices 
  • Perform direct / query-based deployment of patches, Microsoft updates, device drivers, and applications to servers on the network using approved automation tools and producing success / failure reports for the deployment 
  • Develop and perform software deployments for the installation of applications using various software development, automation techniques, and programming languages such as SCCM application deployment, SCCM package deployment, Visual Basic, Batch, and PowerShell 
  • Administer MECM/SCCM and Active Directory group policy, including settings and policy optimization/tuning for reliability and performance. This includes developing, deploying, updating, and supporting Windows Server operating systems (OS) 
  • Manage and maintain a global environment of ~2,000 endpoints, with over 15 supporting infrastructure sites servers 
  • Create documentation on system designs, procedures, processes, and changes 
  • Work with vendors and application owners as needed to resolve issues 
  • Communicating day-to-day activities, operational challenges, or general feedback to management through defined reports and regular meetings 
  • Responsible for special projects related to assignments, customer needs, or service management requirements 
  • Develop customized reports writing SQL code and Power BI to report on the inventory of installed hardware and software 

Some of the technologies you'll be working with:

  • Configuration management: Ansible Tower, Terraform, Packer
  • Operating Systems: Linux (Mostly Red Hat) and Windows Server
  • Virtualization technologies: AWS, Azure, VMWare
  • L2-L7 frame/packet/session inspection: netflow, WAF, pcap

Qualifications:

  • Have 2+ years of experience creating, validating, deploying, and rollback enabled packages for COTS and custom applications in an enterprise environment through the MECM / SCCM software. 
  • 5 years' experience developing, implementing, and administrating Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (MECM / SCCM) and Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) 
  • 5 years' experience supporting Windows Server OS 
  • 5 years' experience deploying customized applications and security patches utilizing Microsoft SCCM with Task Sequences, Note: ‘years of experience’ may not always be the best measure for your ability to succeed in this role.   • Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and Group Policies 
  • Must be able to work in a matrixed organization. 
  • Must be able to articulate technologies and solutions to all levels of customer and contractor personnel. 
  • Practical experience developing software using various programming languages such as Visual.Net, Java, PowerShell, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), and Windows OS registry manipulation 
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory (AD), specifically group policy management and MECM/SCCM dependence of AD sites and services 
  • Microsoft SQL Server knowledge to support MECM/SCCM operations and reporting 
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts including, TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPN, load balancing, DHCP, and VPN. 
  • Proven project management experience and demonstrated ability to execute and achieve expected results 
  • Able to work effectively with peers in a team environment, while also working in a self-directed manner on multiple tasks 
  • Creative and innovative thinker 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Strong customer service orientation 
  • Must be organized, process-minded and detail-oriented 
  • Strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills
