Site Reliability Engineer - Strategic Observability
Job Description As part of the Wholesale Payment Technology Site Reliability Engineer team, you'll help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to runtime problems. You'll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. As an SRE for Strategic Observability, you have a passion for driving higher reliability and operational efficiency with data. You relish the challenges that come with massive scale and technology diversity. Your deep background in software engineering, infrastructure, and troubleshooting enables you to shape observability strategy and build solutions to realize it.
Responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to increase reliability and operational efficiency at scale with data
- Lead design of build, refactor major software components that improve the availability, resilience, performance of our system
- Design, code, test, and deliver software to automate manual operational work
- Provide guidance in incident responses, blameless postmortem, design and implement the product improvement to prevent incident reoccurring
- Identify and implement application patterns in support of better service level objectives
- Design and implement self-healing, resiliency patterns
- Exercise failure cases regularly to validate resilience assumptions
- Architect standard patterns and tooling for monitoring in technically diverse environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a software engineering discipline
- 5+ years of SRE or System engineering experience or Application Development at multiple tiers, with leadership roles
- Expertise in at least one technology stack designing, coding, testing, and delivering software
- Proficiency in one or more technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert able to solve complex and mission critical problems within a business or across the firm
- Expert knowledge in a few of the infrastructure components (e.g. routers, load balancers, cloud products, container systems, compute, storage, and networks)
- Experience in cloud native, distributed application design and implementation
- Experience building middleware, monitoring tools and data collection tools would be a plus, but not necessary
- Experience with Kubernetes would be preferred, but not necessary
- Strong communication skill and ownership
- Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills
