Site Reliability Engineer, Scalability
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be focused on supporting a specific, highly available, and extremely secure production environment. You will analyze the reliability of our environments, use your coding skills to improve the way we operate, and debug sophisticated events as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation.
You’re passionate about connecting with peer development teams, embrace the *nix way and you automate away tedious tasks while building infrastructure-as-code.
In this role, you will join our committed, caring, and close-knit engineering team based out of our office in San Francisco - while collaborating with our peers in London and Australia.
We are an engineering-driven organization that encourages you to take the time to explore new technology and create prototypes that make us better.
As SREs at Meraki, we are building the cloud that supports millions of Meraki customers and their devices across the world. How big? Meraki’s customer base has grown by a factor of 2-3 every year, serving more than 4 billion HTTP requests per day across 10+ data centers! Our customers depend on our products to run their critical infrastructure of network switches, security appliances, wireless APs, and security cameras.
Example projects (Cloud Platform/Scalability):
- Collaborate in the expansion and implementation of new servers and deployments.
- Work across teams to understand and implement client-specific workflows and processes.
- Working in a Ruby codebase to update and modernize patterns and systems.
- Debug a real-world, global web application, triaging issues while working with security or app teams to bring long-term solutions.
- Mentor peer engineers, write code, and do code reviews.
You are an ideal candidate if you:
- Can demonstrate designing, deploying, and operating mid to large-scale enterprise or cloud environments.
- Feel very comfortable with scripting or coding with languages like Ruby, Scala, Go, Python, or Bash.
- Daringly jump into other people's source code to seek a problem.
- Know your way around *nix systems.
- You automate all the things!
- You care about the customer experience. You have experience supporting an externally-facing production environment, ideally in a team that follows the sun.
- You empathize with your coworkers, and you are a positive influence on others.
