General Position Summary
Keeps assigned sites or service up and running and works to get back up and running quickly when failure occurs. Works closely with internal partners and teams to ensure that shipped software meets security, SLA, and performance requirements. Writes and updates documentation including runbooks/playbooks. Automates work including but not limited to infrastructure needs, testing, failover solutions, and failure mitigation. Debugs complex problems across an entire stack and creates solid solutions. Develops CI/CD processes to improve release cadence. Uses chaos testing methodologies to test builds under real-world conditions. Works with Agile Teams/Product Owners to capture and surface metrics that drive SLOs/KPIs.

We are currently searching for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team! This role is responsible for keeping assigned sites or services up and running and works to get sites back up and running quickly when failure occurs. Works closely with internal partners and teams to ensure that shipped software meets security, SLA, and performance requirements. Writes and updates documentation including runbooks/playbooks. Automates work including but not limited to infrastructure needs, testing, failover solutions, and failure mitigation. Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience or comparable with software engineering, software development, or system operations.
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux shells. Skill in writing shell scripts. Understanding of Linux internals.
  • Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
  • Proficient with coding languages like Python, Java, .NET, or similar languages.
  • Understands networking and messaging, especially between services.
  • Has hands-on experience using source control (Git, GitHub) and feature branching strategies.
  • Experience with a variety of databases (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Cassandra, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DevOps engineering.
  • Strong interest in topics like SLOs, resilience, scaling, and performance.
  • Experience with containers, such as with Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability such as with Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, and/or Nagios.
  • Experience automating infrastructure, testing, and deployments using tools like Ansible, Chef, or Terraform and can explain the Infrastructure as Code paradigm.
  • Experience with configuration management, such as with Puppet.
  • Understanding of the idea behind Chaos Engineering.
