MITRE's Cyber Effects and Information Warfare department is currently seeking to grow our team with highly talented engineers, specifically those with demonstrated experience and an understanding of Operations in the Information Environment, Information Warfare and transition of technologies from nascent stages to integration for the Air Force warfighter to employ. The selected candidate will play a critical role working with 16AF to operationalize emerging Information Warfare (IW)/Cyber capabilities from Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and other organizations conducting cutting edge research. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to architect and implement technical solutions for a wide range of challenges currently faced by our government sponsors.

We are seeking strong technical candidates who understand the systems engineering process and its applications in context of DevSecOps and Agile methodologies to provide the Air Force with strategic and technical leadership to shape the requirements, technology assessments, development and implementation strategy to modernize critical strategic warfighter capacities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M inimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.



This position will require overnight travel up to 20% of the time as well as some local travel. Relocation assistance is available.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Must be able to explain complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience conducting Science and Technology capability assessments, trade studies, or Analyses of Alternatives
  • Experience with Agile SW Development Methodologies and DevSecOps
  • Possess an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Understands the systems engineering process and its application
  • Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, software languages, platforms, and systems
  • Expertise to provide unbiased advice, formulate courses of action, analyze programs, and make recommendations across a wide spectrum of issues
  • Ability to work with diverse govt/contractor teams
  • Demonstrable ability to lead through influence not just authority
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess an active Secret level security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance



Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering and 7 years of experience in relevant domain
  • Must be able to explain complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience conducting Science and Technology capability assessments, trade studies, or Analyses of Alternatives
  • Experience with Agile SW Development Methodologies and DevSecOps
  • Possess an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
