Overview

We are seeking a full-time Bluetooth Verification Engineer for our headquarters location in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for executing Bluetooth SIG RF and profile test plans to deliver best-in-class consumer products on schedule. You will own Garmin's Bluetooth SIG test process across the entire product portfolio. Define, plan, and coordinate the Bluetooth SIG test program by bringing together stakeholders, establishing milestones and identifying obstacles on the critical path for Garmin's wide range of product verticals.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and adapt the Bluetooth SIG test process, tools and equipment to ensure accurate and timely results for Garmin's global products
  • Responsible for executing Bluetooth SIG RF and Profile Tuning Suite (PTS) test plans as part of the overall Bluetooth SIG certification process
  • Interface to project teams and segments throughout the Bluetooth SIG test process
  • Read, understand, and properly interpret requirements in order to create test plans
  • Create and distribute test reports to product stakeholders
  • Identifies issues and partners with product teams to troubleshoot and find timely solutions
  • Work with chipset vendors and external labs to support investigations of issues seen during testing
  • Work with tool and equipment vendors to resolve issues affecting the test process and maintain a roadmap of upgrades to support new requirements and technologies
  • Effectively track, manage, and support multiple projects and priorities


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience creating and executing test plans for Bluetooth SIG RF and PTS across a global organization with multiple remote teams
  • Ability to explain and document industry standards and requirements across multiple organizations with varying technical details
  • Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with RF lab equipment including Rohde & Schwarz CMW270, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, vector signal generators, power sensors, etc.
  • Experience capturing and analyzing over-the-air logs through Ellisys and/or BPA protocol analyzers
  • Experience in training other engineers in test execution, debugging and report generation
  • Knowledge in scripting and test software creation to enable automation and testing efficiencies
  • Experience with vendor management including creating purchase requests, managing expectations, deliveries and relationship building
  • Understands manufacturing and supply chain issues as they relate to phase-in of certification-driven design changes

Desired Qualifications

  • Domain expertise in Bluetooth protocols and profiles (LMP, LL, L2CAP, GAP, SMP, GATT, HID, HFP, A2DP, AVRCP, PBAP, etc.)
  • Experience performing Bluetooth functional and interoperability testing on consumer electronics
  • Experience with hardware communication interfaces such as USB and UART
  • 5+ years of experience performing duties similar to the essential functions of this job description
  • 5+ years in electronics manufacturing, test or design environment
  • Experience in working with industry and standards organizations
