UX at Optum (UHG) is the linchpin which brings together strategy, business, technology, and design. A Senior UX Engineer must be a champion for our users, while serving as a trusted partner to our stakeholders. Candidates must be comfortable being autonomous but also be able to delegate and maximize resources and timing. Our Senior UX Engineers must be advocates for running the right UX process and promoting project management best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Influence product through strategy and execution.
- Ascertain business goals, user needs, and understand technical constraints, throughout various product areas.
- Produce a variety of design deliverables, ranging from low fidelity wireframes to high fidelity designs and interactive prototypes, to guide product development.
- Collaborate with business and technical product owners, program managers, engineers, cross-functional stakeholders, and executives to create engaging user experiences with measurable impact.
- Articulate the Product vision and present UX design strategies and UI decisions in clear and compelling language.
- Mentor, manage, and collaborate with a variety of designers.
- Constantly pushing for quality and proactively identify and prioritize opportunities for continuous process and product improvement.
- Work within the constraints of a brand but be able to add their own creativity even with the most mundane of activities.
Qualifications:
- 8+ Years of hands-on experience in a position dedicated to UX.
- Expert knowledge of the principles of UX and Usability best practices.
- Expertise in UI design principles (Gestalt) and the ability to speak to your designs using industry terms.
- Must have working experience in Agile/Scrum team environments and performing their own UX discovery.
- A portfolio that demonstrates mastery of design thinking, double diamond UX, or other applicable HCD process.
- Understanding of heuristics and accessibility standards (WCAG, 508, ADA, etc.).
- Excellent communicator and presenter with experience working in 100% remote environments.
- Expert in Figma, Sketch, or comparable design software.
- Has led individual contributors or design teams previously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Has performed their own UX discovery, research, and design with experience quantifying user feedback for implementation.
- Experience with Information Architecture, content management, and/or design system language management/creation
- Background in information architecture, HCI, Interaction Design, or similar.
- Understanding of engineering and development technical implications.
- Experience with product management or development.
- Experience working in the health care field (Clinical).
