Job Summary

AECOM's Atlanta office is seeking a senior traffic engineer with extensive experience in traffic studies, transportation planning, traffic signal, signing and marking design, intelligent transportation systems, multimodal transportation systems, transportation safety studies and analyses, crash analysis, traffic simulation and modeling, alternative intersections, urban transportation systems, and other related transportation engineering work.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training for junior and mid-level engineers and staff in the traffic studies, design, and safety areas of the Atlanta office.
  • Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate small- and large-scale technical assignments of the traffic and ITS group
  • Traffic Engineering / Studies:
  • Serve as a task manager and produce deliverables for traffic engineering assignments such as traffic engineering reports, crash screenings, network screenings, concept reports, corridor studies, intersection studies, intersection configuration evaluations, traffic projections, traffic studies for developments of regional impact (DRI)
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing studies
  • Design:
  • Leads design of intersection, traffic signal, and signing/marking projects according to each agency's standards and plan development processes
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package
  • Prepares technical specification sections
  • Performs quality control review of analyses, studies, signal timing plans, calculations, or drawings.
  • Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve project challenges and provides coaching to peers and team members
  • Manage client expectations to ensure client is highly satisfied with projects.
  • Actively participate in professional and industry organizations as a board or committee member, industry event organizer, or speaker
  • Actively pursue continuous learning of technical advances and emerging business/industry trends
  • Reports to the Traffic Studies, Design and Safety Group Manager

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Civil Engineering or related degree with 8 years of experience in traffic engineering or demonstrated equivilency of experience and or education.
  • Experience with traffic safety and crash analyses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Traffic Engineering Reports for Georgia DOT
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra
  • Proficiency in traffic signal, signing, and marking design in Georgia
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail

Other Information:

  • Periodic travel is required within Georgia and neighboring states
