The Tactical, Communications, and Maintenance Applications (TCMA) team based in Huntsville, Alabama has new opportunities for individuals who want to grow their technical expertise on complex programs and be a part of an innovative and fast-paced avionics business area. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software-only products. Our team focuses on creating avionics solutions for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including the integration of various radios and surveillance equipment for domestic and international military customers.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Systems engineer to join our TCMA team in Huntsville, Alabama. The successful candidate will be responsible for design, development, integration, verification, and certification of avionics solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading software engineering development tasks within the Agile framework
  • Develop and maintain incremental plans for team to meet program milestones
  • Provide direct support to stakeholders to answer questions and solve technical issues
  • Participate in and lead in bid and pursuit activities
  • Present technical information and status to several levels of engineering leadership
  • Work with other team members and domains to maintain and develop requirements and design to satisfy customer and certification needs
  • Continually work to maintain compliance with certification requirements as well as Collins Aerospace standards and best practices
  • Provide support to domains for verifying regular software builds in an integrated test environment
  • Support formal verification events during major deliveries
  • Provide mentorship to other engineers toward helping the team/program succeed
  • Continually develop and improve practices and processes related to development and certification



Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required. Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Product Owner/Agile Software Development experience
  • Test Automation (Python) experience
  • Adaptable to changes in assignments and responsibilities
  • Ability to collaborate well across multiple disciplines
  • Highly self-motivated and contributing to a positive work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Engineering Tool experience (DOORS, ALM, JIRA, Enterprise Architect, etc.)



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Avionics Experience
  • Ada Software Development
  • Embedded Software experience
  • Mil-Std-1553B bus protocol experience
  • Ethernet bus protocol experience (TCP/UDP)
  • Military Radio and/or Surveillance (IFF) Knowledge Base
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) experience
  • CDU-7000 Flight2 experience
  • Leadership Experience
