Owning the higher level of systems engineering, this team is responsible for establishing effective and constructive bridges between the Cruise top level stakeholders. As a project-level Systems Engineer assigned to a program, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Program Managers, Hardware and Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, as well as Operations, Legal and Security teams to drive success towards the major initiatives at Cruise.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Formulating a CONOPS (Concept of Operations), the narrative that provides a unifying vision of the Autonomous Vehicle workflows
  • Translating the product vision into a set of high level requirements inclusive of the Operational Design Domain (ODD), functions, performance requirements, features; and maintaining updated dashboards for these
  • Designing and documenting clear interfaces that effectively decouple the development of the major subsystems and reduce integration risk
  • Performing analysis to derive technical program requirements to meet business objectives
  • In partnership with the other leaders, designing early and smaller integration milestones, as building blocks and forcing functions to develop incremental system capabilities
  • Defining and holding gate reviews to communicate major results and decisions: design reviews, verification strategy, launch readiness reviews, etc.

What you must have:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another related field
  • 5+ years of postgraduate experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or other related fields
  • Industry experience in systems engineering and requirements management including system analysis, requirements authoring, test generation, and validation activities
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems
  • Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity
  • Prioritize while maintaining the tasks at hand
  • Strong technical and nontechnical communication skills

  • Proven track record of successful systems engineering for a safety-critical product
  • Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, DNG, DOORS, etc.)
