Senior Structure and Payload Design EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000284634Date Posted:2021-11-11-08:00Location:USA - Seal Beach, CAJob Description Qualifications: The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Structure and Payload Design Engineer located in Seal Beach, CA. The selected candidate will be responsible for lead the development, documentation and integration of structure and payload designs. The candidate will work under minimal direction, as well as train and review the work of others.Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the design integration of new payloads and flight experiments
  • Lead multi-discipline teams to develop structure and payload system design definition including layouts, detail part definition, and assembly datasets
  • Perform trade studies to identify and evaluate multiple potential design and build options
  • Support component fabrication and procurement, and vehicle assembly and test
  • Manage suppliers to define, develop and qualify structure and payload system components and assemblies
  • Develop engineering dispositions to hardware non-conformances and anomalies
  • Provide design integration leadership for proposal preparation and new business development efforts
  • Review the work of team members to ensure technical excellence and first time quality
  • Lead team in definition of project plans and provide regular progress updates
  • Travel up to 20% of the time will be possible during the program lifecycle to support the engineering and production activities at ESG facilities, as well as test facilities and suppliers in various states.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role.
  • 3+ years of experience creating 3D part geometry, drawings and assemblies using CAD based tool.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1 + year of experience leading a design engineering team.

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
