Responsibilities
As a Senior Solid-State Drive (SSD) Modeling Test Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with system architects, firmware engineers, firmware architects, firmware test engineers, system hardware design engineers, product engineers, and memory design engineers to solve cross-functional product development issues.
  • Designing and defining test plans and providing strategic guidance to a team of SSD modeling test engineers on the development of automated test scripts utilizing industry standard and internally developed test tools and platforms.
  • Leading the test engineers on the execution of automated tests run as part of a continuous integration environment.
  • Reviewing and understanding firmware designs to create highly effective white box tests.
  • Assisting with triaging failures, filing bug reports, and helping engineers reproduce and isolate issues.
  • Analyze metrics and drive solutions to continually improve test and code coverage.
  • Driving efforts to "shift left" bug discovery and increase the quality of product firmware.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in electrical engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or closely related field (must be from accredited college or university).
  • Over 5 years of experience developing tests for embedded systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems.
  • Excellent working knowledge of software development, verification, system failure analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python, Procedural and Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Experience of SW development practices.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and supervise day-to-day activities, including providing reports of progress and the ability to manage issues/blockages and drive to resolution.


Preferred Skills:

  • In depth knowledge and extensive experience with test development.
  • Expertise in the use of scripting languages, programming tools and environments.
  • Extensive experience programming in Python.
  • Experience programming and debugging in C/C++.
  • Experience in the storage industry in SSD, HDD, storage systems, or a related technology.
  • Understanding of storage interfaces including ideally PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS.
  • Experience in SQL and no-SQL databases, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process, communication with Database Admin (DBA).
  • Experience with NAND flash and other non-volatile storage.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of day-to-day supervision.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team and under the pressure of multiple priorities.
