Job summary
The Red Hat Public Sector Sales team is looking for a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect to join us. In this role, you will serve as the catalyst for creating possibilities, solving problems, and establishing working relationships with customers. You'll collaborate with the sales account teams across the public sector to bring our customers the best solutions from Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat Application Services, including Red Hat Runtimes, Red Hat Integration, and Red Hat Process Automation Manager. You'll need to have deep technical expertise, a passion for open-source, a detailed understanding of business processes, and the ability to identify and create business solutions across enterprise technology offerings. As a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect, you'll also need to have excellent communication and people skills because you'll be a key part of the first experience our customers will have with Red Hat. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Support the Public Sector Sales team's go-to-market (GTM) strategy
  • Build strategic relationships with executives and key business leaders to promote Red Hat's portfolio of solutions, including application development, application and service hosting, API management, business rules and process management, content aggregation, data federation, and service integration on-premise or in the cloud
  • Work with the Public Sector Sales teams to plan the overall application development and middleware strategy
  • Analyze and develop solutions to guide customers from initial adoption of hybrid cloud technology to modern runtimes and cloud-native application development, secure software development pipelines, API management, service mesh, serverless, single sign-on, rules engines, business process management (BPM) platforms, modern and traditional integration, enterprise messaging, distributed data management, caching, and streaming
  • Work with the Public Sector Sales teams to ensure that Red Hat's solutions become the first choice for our customers by creating strategic customer relationships, developing and closing sustainable revenue across technologies, guiding the extended Sales team to maximize revenue growth, and forecasting and closing sales in alignment with company goals
  • Support presales and post-sales activities, including technical deep dives, demonstrations, proofs of concepts, bake-offs, workshops and enablement events, product roadmap discussions, answering technical portions of RFPs and RFIs, and application portfolio reviews
  • Develop, document, and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards for Red Hat offerings
  • Define the goals of a solution and devise flow charts and diagrams describing logical operational steps of programs
  • Help resolve software-related problems, like misconfigurations, malfunctions, and program problems as part of presales activities
  • Assist in the creation of public sector sales GTM content
  • Work closely with the Red Hat product business units and engineering teams to cultivate relationships and close the feedback loop with the field
  • Participate in community activities like speaking at Red Hat and community events, authoring blogs, whitepapers, and ebooks, creating tutorials, and driving Red Hat sales messaging on social media channels
  • Mentor and train others in the field to help strengthen our sales positioning capabilities and ability to scale


Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer information systems, computer science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience working as a specialist solutions architect or a related role; experience in sales is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience with Red Hat Application Services, TIBCO Middleware, IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic, or Mule Enterprise Service Bus
  • 5+ years of experience with Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite, TIBCO BPM Enterprise, or Pega Business Process Management (BPM)
  • 5+ years of experience with Red Hat AMQ, Apache ActiveMQ, IBM WebSphere MQ (WMQ) Apache Kafka, or TIBCO Enterprise Message Service (EMS) messaging technologies
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise application architecture with development skills
  • 3+ years of experience with API management, like Red Hat 3scale API Management, TIBCO Cloud Mashery API Management Platform, MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, or Apigee API Management
  • Experience with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), technologies like containers, Kubernetes, Red Hat Ansible automation Platform, and standards like SOAP, XML, XSLT, REST, JSON, and XPATH
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise container architectures and solutions, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and equivalent solutions, and Linux; knowledge of deploying and running container solutions in private, public, and hybrid clouds
  • Experience with agile frameworks and transformation with deep knowledge of development tools, continuous integration (CI), and continuous delivery (CD) processes
  • Ability to have conversations at multiple levels from DevOps, through architects, to developers and Infrastructure
  • Experience with a digital transformation effort as a part of sales, consulting, or as a customer
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a record of developing relationships at technical, management, and executive levels
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines
  • Experience with Java development technologies like Quarkus, Spring Boot, WildFly, or JEE, including Red Hat JBoss EAP and other additional technologies like Node.js, Ruby, PHP, Go, or .NET development is a plus
