The Red Hat Insights Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for an Automation Engineer to join us. As part of a fast-paced agile team, you will be responsible for evaluating product functionality, extending our existing test automation framework, setting up various continuous integration (CI) pipelines, working on deployment automation and developing new open source tooling to verify the quality of Red Hat's solutions hosted at cloud.redhat.com. This is a very high-profile project and a unique opportunity to shape the future direction of all of Red Hat. What you will do

  • Participate in the test and product planning processes
  • Develop test cases and maintain a thorough understanding of product functionality
  • Develop tooling, frameworks, and tests using Python
  • Get involved in deployment, CI, and other processes
  • Deliver clear status for testing areas in a timely manner
  • Write clear and accurate bug reports
  • Work closely with the project management (PM), user experience (UX), and developers as part of an agile team


What you will bring

  • Passion for testing and examining how things work internally
  • Experience managing Linux systems like system administration, troubleshooting a broken machine or container
  • Active scripting and programming skills using Python, e.g., basics of object-oriented programming (OOP) and some knowledge of standard and commonly used libraries and frameworks
  • Experience with Git or other source control technologies
  • Experience with CI or continuous delivery (CD)
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work on a fast-paced project


The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience developing automated tests in Python
  • Familiarity with microservices architectures
  • Experience with containers, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, and Kubernetes
  • Experience using or participating in open source projects
  • Experience performing web interface automation using Selenium
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining various environments
  • Participation in open source or Python conferences
  • Any Red Hat Certifications, especially Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
