The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work on the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, built on container technology and the Kubernetes cluster management system. You'll be responsible for all aspects of quality for Red Hat OpenShift, including designing test plans, extending automation frameworks, and developing new automated tests for back and front ends. You will make sure our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability. As a Senior Software Quality Engineer, you will gain a deep technical understanding of a variety of popular technologies, including containers, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, etc.

What you will do

  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans, test cases, and test reports
  • Design, develop, and maintain test automation, analyze test failures; implement automation and integrate your tests to continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD)
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, performance, and scalability tests using open source tools for OpenShift
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, be goal-oriented; proactively communicate with multiple stakeholders across teams to implement new ideas and improvements
  • Oversee potential problems and devise mechanisms to solve them timely
  • Act as an expert in areas of your projects, and advocate for product quality
  • Work in a global team, embrace diversity and cultural differences
  • Suggest and implement continuous improvement in the workflow


What you will bring

  • 3+ years of experience working as a core engineer in a quality engineering team; experience in leading a quality engineering team is a plus
  • Profound knowledge in managing and troubleshooting storage and file systems under Linux
  • Experience with NFS, iSCSI, FibreChannel, etc.
  • Experienced with one or several of the cloud providers including AWS, GCP, Azure, OpenStack, vSphere
  • Solid experience in at least one object-oriented programming language, preferably Ruby, Golang, or Python
  • Successful experience in implementing and improving test automation
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies with minimal guidance
  • Proven written and verbal English skills
  • Experience with Nutanix products is a big plus


The following will be considered a plus:

  • Knowledge and experience in Kubernetes, Containers, and OpenShift
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2, Google Compute Engine (GCE), or Microsoft Azure
  • Direct experience with Red Hat OpenShift or other Red Hat products
  • Previous contributions to open source projects or publicly available code samples
