About the job
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will make updates to previously developed software automation, including installation, upgrade, and validation of Red Hat products like OpenShift, Red Hat Ceph Storage, OpenShift Virtualization. You'll develop internal and community software and automation to integrate existing products and validate their operation as part of daily tasks, working with various infrastructure and Network Function partners to install and/or incorporate their offerings into the solution.
What you will do

  • Prepare and maintain software environment, including systems, networking, and firmware, and manually perform installation, upgrade, and validation of Red Hat products like OpenShift, Red Hat Ceph Storage, and OpenShift Virtualization
  • Automate all the installation and/or upgrading of Red Hat (OpenShift, Ceph, Virtualization) and partner software with Ansible or other automation tools
  • Incorporate the automation into Red Hats distributed continuous integration tooling (DCI) and operate DCI and investigate any anomalies
  • Be responsible for the proper operation and performance of any part of the software solution, including system, network, Red Hat software (OpenShift, ACM, Ceph), or other Red Hat offering
  • Be responsible for designing and implementing the container platform for 5G telecommunication companies, contributing to industry-leading technologies in the Kubernetes ecosystem
  • Deploy, automate, demonstrate, troubleshoot, and document integrations, and develop and integrate changes in multiple projects to troubleshoot, analyze bug root causes, and provide resolutions
  • Review and validate designs, enhancement proposals and patches from other members, and work with the quality engineering team (QE) to ensure effective test coverage


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in telecommunication systems management, computer science, computer networking, or related field and 3+ years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in telecommunication systems management, computer science, computer networking, or related field and 1+ year(s) of experience in the job offered or related role
  • 1+ years of experience with: network administration, including switches configuration, and VLANs; Linux; and Python, Perl, C, C++, or Bash code development
  • 6+ months of experience with: Kubernetes; Ansible; and Linux network administration, including DNS, DHCP, and NIC configuration
  • Willingness to participate in international and domestic travel up to 10% of the time, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines; travel expenses covered by Red Hat, Inc.
