Based on the evolving situation with Covid-19 we are mostly remote, this includes the hiring process. We are in the process of moving to a hybrid of onsite and remote with some positions remaining 100% remote.
Why This Role Is Important To Arcadia
Arcadia is seeking a talented senior web engineer to join and help lead our high-paced development team that is transforming healthcare. We empower healthcare teams with beautiful, easy-to-use software that mines hundreds of millions of health records and presents highly interactive visual insights, guiding the decisions that improve lives and reverse the trend of explosive healthcare costs.
Come help us integrate massive clinical datasets and financial data feeds for real-time insights to health, quality of care, and medical expense. We work with some of the best healthcare organizations around the country.
What Success Looks Like
In 3 months- Gain a deep understanding about the application's architecture and interactions with other services- Develop and deploy priority features and integrations based on the product roadmap- Collaborate on future feature deconstruction and roadmap planning
In 6 months- Build and deploy complex features and integrations with product-wide impact- Identify opportunities to eliminate technical debt and deploy new architecture- Make informed decisions quickly and take ownership of services at scale
In 12 months- Influence broader product line technical strategies and contribute to product roadmaps with a technical lens- Continued excellence in building and deploying product features and technical improvements- Become a subject matter expert on system design
What You'll Be Doing

    • Designing and developing highly-available, fault tolerant, secure, and distributed systems; both from the ground up and from pre-existing codebases
    • Imparting advanced knowledge with respect to software design patterns, cloud architecture, and DevOps practices (e.g. infrastructure as code, ChatOps)
    • Identifying opportunities to leverage new technology paradigms (e.g. serverless) and leading development of PoCs to demonstrate feasibility and value
    • Scope, designing, and developing application features using an agile software development methodology
    • Determining the trade-offs in value to customers, speed of delivery to market, and technology debt
    • Leading code and designing reviews
    • Enjoying and excelling at technically mentoring and developing a team of engineers
    • Participating in the acquisition of talent and have a POV on hiring
    • Identifying opportunities to improve team workflows and processes
    • Identifying technical debt and advocating for paying it down
    • Enhancing user experience and making our user interface look awesome
    • Contributing innovative features and solutions to the product roadmap


What You'll Bring

    • 5+ years experience writing web applications and/or RESTful APIs, at scale
    • 5+years experience with modern JavaScript technologies and frameworks
    • 3+ years experience with DevOps and shell programming
    • Experience in one of more of the following: Java, Python, .NET, C++, Scala, Rust
    • Mastery of HTML, CSS, SQL, and Git
    • Motivated by working with bleeding edge technologies and methodologies
    • Proven track record of delivering work into production
    • Strong object oriented and/or functional programming fundamentals
    • Versatile full-stack developer (experience spanning more than just web applications)
    • Passion for UX and designing thoughtful, multi-platform, customer-centric, interfaces
    • Openness to receiving feedback and constructive criticism on designs and code - we work as a team
    • Commitment to testing and refactoring
    • Ability to communicate technical concepts in a compelling and approachable way


Would Love for You to Have

    • Experience with Ruby on Rails and AngularJS
    • Experience with Terraform
    • 5+ years experience with Linux configuration, management, and maintenance
    • 3+ years experience hosting production applications in AWS (specifically automation of secure environment deployments, maintenance, and migrations)
    • 3+ years experience designing, developing, and maintaining containerized systems
    • Familiarity with Apache Mesos (DC/OS) and/or Kubernetes

What's something quirky about your company?

Arcadia's Got Talent (AGT) is an annual talent show that I won last year. The best part about AGT was that it encouraged me to work on something I am passionate about outside of work.
