What you need to know about the role:

This role will focus on supporting PayPal's business rules engine development by integrating business solutions into the decision platform. You will leverage existing software, develop new software, write rules, and perform monitoring and data analysis.

PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) leverages business rules engine technology to make decisions for risk management. The team supports PayPal's business units for their day-to-day rule operations and rule lifecycle management. The team also supports PayPal's engineering teams to integrate their decision solutions into the decision platform. In your role, you have the opportunity to partner with a variety of teams - including product, engineers and analytics.

Great Opportunity to join our PayPal team! You will be a part of the Decision Intelligence organization supporting decision product integration. You will be reporting to the manager of Rule Operations. You will own the technology, datasets, and tools for the decision product with the goal of data and decision quality as well as operational efficiency.

Your day to day:

In your day to day role you will

  • Review and design technical solutions, troubleshoot, and solve complex business problems.
  • ropose business requirement and possible solutions to address business and technical issues.
  • Design and implement applications or business solutions on a high-level requirement
  • Perform analysis and monitoring
  • Collaborate effectively with team members as well as globally distributed cross-functional teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Provide on-call support as needed.

What do you need to bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience in design and implementation of enterprise level software applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system and shell scripting
  • Experience in developing applications using RDBMS and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and BigQuery
  • Experience in Web application development with Java, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, RESTFul API, etc.
  • Competent in tools such as GitHub, Jenkins and Splunk/SignalFX
  • Knowledge of business rules engine technology such as IBM ODM will be a plus
  • Knowledge of payment industry and risk management will be a plus
