Job Description
Renaissance’s family of products and community of customers has grown dramatically over the past few years, and we expect it to continue to grow through acquisition and customer expansion. Our scale and high quality product portfolio create a tremendous opportunity to use the power of our ecosystem to do more than what any one product can do on its own to put teachers at the center in accelerating learning for all. To realize this opportunity, Renaissance has committed to establishing an Ecosystem team, focused solely on the goal of enabling the seamless movement of users and data across all products and supporting teams.
What you are going to work on:
The Ecosystem Services team is the group responsible for democratizing core organizational and educational data access.
We are creating the architecture and platform for orchestrating how data flows, and secure, exposing low-latency APIs that allow our product teams to move fast.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join Ecosystem and be a founding member and have a unique role in creating solutions that are organized into three pillars:
Speedy setup - As our product portfolio grows, we have to improve our setup process and tooling to make adding products quick and easy. We are reducing the complexity around rostering, provisioning and licensing of our products to both new and existing customers.
Simple sign-on - Security and privacy are always top of mind for us. We have a duty to protect the data of our customers. As a preK-12 organization, we have a unique challenge to create frictionless security that works for adults as well as children as young as 3 years old.
Product enablement - Our educational products help educators connect assessment, practice and instruction via time-saving inter-product connections and smart insights. We have a mission to create a new API platform for securely publishing and consuming data among the products in ways that support our mission of accelerating learning for all.
In this role, you will:
Support Engineering Manager in technical initiatives and act as role model to other engineers on the team and in Ecosystem
Own multi-month projects from discovery to delivery, collaborating with peers to ensure a timely and high-quality delivery
Mentor the engineers on your projects, helping them hone their skills and acquire new ones
Design, implement, maintain and operate secure, scalable and reliable microservices that support products available to 40% of students in the US
Play a key part in creatively solving the complex integration and system migration challenges. Our direct clients are the product teams at Renaissance, each one of them delivers a unique experience and uses different stacks, from Java to Haskell. Our solution should be easy to adopt by all.
Partner with a collaborative, lively team of engineers and product owners to create products that will delight users.
Advocate for code development and delivery improvements to ensure well-tested code is shipped early+often and is actively monitored once in the wild.
