Job DescriptionThe Sr. Software Engineer within the Supply Chain Technology team is responsible for designing and developing highly available, robust and scalable solutions to support Nordstrom’s supply chain operations including order fulfillment, automation, shipping and data capture/analytics. This position plays a key role in the transformation of fulfillment and distribution platforms to support Nordstrom’s retail and e-commerce growth.

Supply Chain technology transformation is central to Nordstrom’s strategic vision and our leadership is investing in our growth. In the past year, we’ve aggressively begun streamlining our technology to support a scalable and AI driven supply chain network. This will provide the foundation to quickly integrate state of the art automated, omni-channel fulfillment and distribution management systems. Nordstrom’s supply chain services process hundreds of thousands of orders per day, with transactions in tens of millions of dollars per day, and account for roughly half of the company’s multi-billion dollar sales for the year.

Key Initiatives of this Supply Chain Technology team:

Transform the Nordstrom Supply Chain network, by integrating state-of-the-art, warehouse management and automated fulfillment and inventory management systems

Develop systems that support complex material flow for omni-channel fulfillment centers - inventory movement, order fulfillment, shipping and data capture/analytics

Work with external partners in the development of robotic material handling systems and storage solutions that meet the requirements of the supply chain business

Revolutionize the company’s order routing and fulfillment space by building services at scale which optimally balance profitability, customer satisfaction and speed of delivery, and weaving data science, machine learning models with advanced optimization algorithms and techniques.

Advance Nordstrom’s best-in-class returns policy with a seamless reverse logistics flow designed to significantly improve customer returns experience while drastically reducing “time to restock and sell” the items.

A day in the life… 

Responsible for feature design; evaluate designs and provide feedback

Implement complex features within owned services, which satisfy business objectives, with high quality

Influence quality standards and understand, identify, measure across entire solution

Maintain high level of coding, testing and engineering standards

Analyze service errors, identify performance issues and optimize solutions

Lead projects inside teams with focus on outcomes and customer experience

You own this if you have… 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering 

7+ years professional experience in practice area 

3+ years of experience in full SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)

Extensive Java development experience

Major experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)

Experience with Kafka streaming and Kubernetes

Quality-first mindset with focus on test automation and CI/CD

Supply Chain domain knowledge or Retail experience is a bonus

The pay range listed below is specific to Colorado, which is provided in compliance with Colorado law. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Colorado Minimum = $123,300 annually

Colorado Maximum = $184,900/annually
