About the Team
The Security Operations team's mission is to prevent harm, respond to risk, and enable the business. This team focuses on identifying and protecting assets, detecting anomalies and attacks, responding to and recovering from asset compromise in order to return the business to a steady state. We focus on application security, incident response, security on call, infrastructure security and internal security consulting.
As a Senior Security Software Engineer on the Security Development team, you will tackle the challenges that come with building secure by default services and libraries that power core business functions from internal tooling to customer-facing applications while balancing a seamless customer experience with compliance requirements. You will have the opportunity to set the standard for the next generation of authentication and authorization within Opendoor.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and develop authentication and authorization services as part of the IAM platform.
- Facilitate integration of services and tools across the organization with the IAM platform.
- Identify opportunities for future growth of IAM capabilities and control coverage.
- Support robust and transparent identity accounting and reporting processes.
- Build secure-by-default libraries and frameworks that help standardize security in our codebases.
- Contribute to the monitoring and stability of the team’s existing services.
- Write and maintain IAM platform documentation.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Security, and IT to build solutions that balance the needs of each stakeholder.
Skills Needed
- 5+ years of experience working as a software engineer on backend services.
- Deep understanding of what is required to build and run reliable services from design patterns to team processes.
- Pride in producing scalable and maintainable software systems.
- Ability to communicate complex topics in an effective and concise manner.
- Appreciation for automation and development excellence in testing, workflow, and operations.
- Experience working with authentication and authorization protocols and frameworks (Eg. OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML)
- Experience building new services in a high-level programming language. (Eg. Golang, Python)
- Experience designing and implementing scalable APIs (gRPC, REST)
Bonus Points if
- Experience building and deploying container-based services on a Cloud computing platform (Eg. AWS EKS, GKE)
- Experience with GraphQL
- Security Engineering mindset. (Eg. identifying areas of high risk in a system)
For CO Residents Only, and in accordance with C.R.S. Sec. 8-5-101 et seq., the estimated base salary range for this role is $117,000 - $211,000 per year. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position in question based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
