Job Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer (SPE), you will be an integral member of the Platform Engineering team, helping the organization transform into a truly modern DevOps model of operation. The goal of the Platform Engineering (PE) team is to reduce friction in the delivery process and improve the developer experience. Technical prowess, pragmatic strategic understanding, and the ability to make compromises working with the stakeholders are the 3 pillars of this job.

SPE will be working closely with the leaders within Platform & Release Engineering to ensure sound technical direction. SPE will also work with the Technical Product Owner in their Agile PE team to reduce friction in delivering the most critical platform features needed for the Product Development Teams. SPE will be expected to provide guidance on DevOps practices and tools as well as Azure cloud resources. In addition, an SPE will mentor as well as serve as an escalation point to Platform Engineer I's, and II's.

Job Responsibilities
• Contribute to the strategic direction for the Platform and the developer experience.
• Drive sound technical implementation decisions in alignment with the strategic direction.
• Represent platform capabilities at delivery ceremonies (for example: Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Operational Governance Board (OGB))
• Drive forensic troubleshooting and analysis of automation and platform consistency issues.
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems, resource, and infrastructure availability and performance optimization
• Evangelize DevOps practices and methodologies to delivery teams.
• Provide subject matter expertise for all aspects of our technology stack.

Required Experience
• 5+ years of experience in a Platform, Software, or DevOps Engineering or DevOps Advocacy role
• Experience writing production code with an industry-standard programming language using Agile methodologies (C#/.net)
• Experience with provisioning resources in Azure with Terraform.
• Strong experience managing multiple code bases in Git.
• Experience creating Continuous Integration builds and deployment automation, for example, CI/CD Pipelines.
• Experience building Cloud Native applications in a major public cloud.
• Experience implementing observability, application monitoring, and log aggregation solutions.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to provide DevOps inspired solutions.

Preferred Experience & Skills
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Services
• Experience with Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines.
• Experience with PowerShell, and PowerShell Desired State Configuration.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Developer Associate, and/or Azure Administrator Associate.
