About the job
The Red Hat OpenStack engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will collaborate with upstream communities and lead the build-out and continuous improvement of the continuous integration (CI) process for the Red Hat OpenStack Platform deployment project. You'll contribute to feature test coverage, tooling frameworks, issue troubleshooting, and resolution of Red Hat OpenStack Platform services. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will participate as a member of a geographically distributed team, using multiple communication tools for close collaboration. You'll need to have a passion for modern open source development methods, an interest in SDET, and a desire to apply broad software engineering skills to IT automation. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
- Become a contributing member of the open source community to develop CI framework tools like Red Hat OpenStack Platform's Zuul, Jenkins, GitHub, and GitLab CI
- Develop and maintain Red Hat OpenStack Platform features
- Contribute to the delivery of Red Hat OpenStack Platform release cadence
- Participate in upstream and internal continuous integration and continuous delivery (CD)
- Inspire and guide technical direction and content within the community and Red Hat
- Work with the Red Hat OpenStack Platform deployment and upstream CI teams to improve automation coverage
- Proactively define and implement automated processes
- Maintain and troubleshoot issues in the Red Hat OpenStack Platform production chain pipeline
What you will bring
- Exceptional Linux development experience
- DevOps pipeline experience using Red Hat OpenStack Platform
- Passion for open source software development
- Deep understanding of cloud computing and configuration management; Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform understanding is a plus
- Previous focus on test-driven development (TDD) and good knowledge of unit testing frameworks and methodologies
- Experience developing in Python and shell scripting
- Familiarity with CI and CD
- Ability to work in a distributed team environment
- Experience using, developing, or administering Red Hat OpenStack Platform environments, including the knowledge of Red Hat OpenStack Platform Tempest, Nova, Neutron, and storage and deployment services, is a big plus
