What you’ll do: 

We are seeking a Senior Mapping & Localization Software Engineer to develop software that enables map-based autonomous driving. As part of the mapping and localization team, you will be able to design, implement, and improve algorithms used to create and manage map data as well as algorithms used to localize a vehicle within the map in real time. You will also Gain a deep understanding of not only the self-driving technology, but also its real-world challenges and how to convert such technology into real products. 

  • Analyze & improve the current localization algorithms, ensuring our self-driving vehicles have the best localization accuracy to drive safely and smoothly on the road.  
  • Research the state-of-the-art localization algorithms and apply excellent algorithm design & programming skills to our self-driving software.  
  • Prototype and deploy robust and reliable solutions to cutting-edge localization problems.  
  • Collaborate closely with a creative team of engineers and researchers.  
  • Improve how our vehicles act and react in complex and nuanced situations  

What you’ll need to Succeed: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, or engineering equivalent with 8 years of relevant industry experience 
  • Extensive industry experience in Robotics/Autonomy algorithms, architecture, and design in mapping & localization 
  • Extensive experience writing production code using modern C++ on Linux  
  • Proficient understanding of probability, statistics, probabilistic modeling, and linear algebra  
  • Semantic Segmentation using Deep Learning 
  • LIDAR sensor data processing algorithms 
  •  CUDA (GPU Programming) programming is desired 

Bonus Points! 

  • Masters degree with 5 years of relevant industry experience OR 
  • PhD with 2 years of relevant industry experience
