The Engineering Business Continuity team is looking to expand its Cloud Capacity function by adding Credit Karma's first Cloud Capacity & Performance Engineer. This lead role will partner with the Capacity Engineer on the team to work cross-functionally and grow our infrastructure in a cost-effective and scalable way. This opportunity is ideal for an individual who is eager to help build capacity engineering solutions that supports hundreds of micro-services across multiple regions.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to evolve the site wide capacity model to best increase the services across the product, data, mobile, and platform engineering teams
  • Build new self-service processes and tools to allow service owners to self-manage their team's efficiency, capacity and costs
  • Work with engineers to troubleshoot or improve the cost performance of their services by sharing utilization metrics and recommend ways to reduce resource consumption and/or request latency
  • Be an expert in administering performance and capacity-related tests/analysis & build automated capacity modeling and monitoring tools with effective collaboration across the product, data, mobile, and platform engineering teams
  • Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work with systems, network, application operations and engineering teams to discover resolutions

Minimum Basic Requirement:

  • 3+ years as a capacity, performance, or systems engineer at a fast-growing technology company
  • 4+ years experience in software development
  • Experience with microservices architecture, and large-scale production services
  • Proficiency in coding and scripting languages such as Java, TypeScript, Scala, or Python
  • Proficiency in capacity management and load testing within cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
  • Strong communication skills and experience in technical leadership

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience building highly integrated, large-scale, high-volume, and testable systems
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational database schema design
  • Experience in API design and building robust and extendable client/server contracts
  • Experience with deployment strategies and production infrastructure needs
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containers technologies
  • Ability to mentor and coach other team members
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
