Perch is creating the next generation Consumer Products company by becoming the first technology-based scale operator of top eCommerce microbrands.  Microbrands selling through marketplaces like Amazon are already transforming global retail - Amazon’s 3rd party marketplace alone was $300B in 2020.  Perch is disrupting and accelerating this space by acquiring great brands and making them even better.  We look for successful, profitable businesses that sell top-ranked products with differentiated customer feedback.  The Perch platform integrates those businesses into a scale operating company and accelerates the products to the next level of sales and profitability.  We are a key resource for entrepreneurs who want liquidity and a key partner for Amazon and other retail channels by offering exceptional products, great customer service, and great value.

It is our belief at Perch that quality is an end-to-end commitment, from inception to delivery we strive to ensure our product is held to the highest possible standards.  The ideal candidate for this position will be able to take a holistic approach to quality within the engineering organization at Perch, from refinement of tickets and requirements, to design and execution of test plans, and finally to delivery and triage of issues.

As an integral member of the Engineering team, you will have the unique opportunity to help define and guide how Perch thinks about testing and automation, leading and championing best-practices while building a culture that is committed to quality and repeatable processes through automation and infrastructure as code.

Requirements

  • Player-coach capable of designing and creating test strategies (test plans and test cases) for individual product releases, with a keen eye for validating business requirements, operational needs and real-world customer insights
  • Ability to develop and organize scripts, tools, documentation, and test data sets in a version control system
  • Quick to identify and troubleshoot issues that team members are having with various tools and support systems
  • While our focus is entirely on automation, there may be a need for hands-on testing in various platforms such as customer web applications, from time to time.
  • 5+ years of experience as a QA Automation Engineer, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Software Developer, or similar Automation role
  • Ability to engage with product and business teams outside of engineering to promote quality efforts, and to support early engagement QA efforts when scoping tickets, defining requirements, and building product roadmaps.

About You

We are looking for entrepreneurial and collaborative team members to help build out scalable systems. You will be someone who can lead by example, who likes the idea of ownership over our testing and automation efforts, and is energized by the challenge of helping us to create the best technology platform we can to grow our business. You should be prepared to work directly with leaders in product and engineering, and demonstrate an ability to understand the trade-offs required to balance speed vs. perfection. No eCommerce or Amazon experience is required – we believe that with the right set of underlying capabilities, you can learn the industry context quickly.
