About FinTech Team :
The FinTech team builds technology for Uber's Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis, Cost optimization, Revenue computation, Payables management and global tax calculation. Our technology enables automation of monthly closing of books, quarterly wall street reporting, provides Billing (Invoices, Receipts) services to our earner partners and ensures regulatory compliance worldwide. This requires building and operating large scale distributed systems handling Uber's trip scale, integrating with best of breed products, building automation and simple ways to onboard new businesses and a scalable financial platform which ensures explainability, accuracy and completeness handling billions of transactions.
The Fintech micro services processed transactions from 6.9 billion trips taken globally in 2019, handling over 2.8 million transactions per minute to compute accounting entries and close our books accurately.
You will be building High performance scalable applications. Apart from building scalable architectures, you will also work with Product Managers to understand the domain of Finance and the nuances of various business's. FinTech is the backbone of Uber and we are looking for smart and motivated senior engineers who can make a difference and change the way FinTech works at Uber.

What You'll Do
• Actively seek out the toughest technology and engineering problems and solve them with little to no guidance.
• Own large opportunities and initiatives and drive clarity, convergence, and closure across teams.
• Take the larger vision or challenge and distill it down with the leadership team into strategies and plans including trade-offs required to realize the vision.
• Be a role model on acting with good judgment and responsibility. Engineers across the organization will look to you on how best to plan and execute on projects.
• Provide technical leadership and vision in designing, implementing, testing and rolling out the next generations of our fintech systems.
• Raise the bar on sustainable engineering by improving best practices, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing, and monitoring.
• Be a humble mentor and trusted advisor for both our talented team members and passionate leaders alike. Deal with differences in opinion in a mature and fair way, helping teams to commit and move forward.
What you will need
• 8+ years of experience as a software engineer• Coding chops, clean, elegant, bug-free code in languages like Java, GO• Skilled at architecture: Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture - consensus, convergence, data consistency and performance/efficiency constructs• Strong desire to learn and grow, while building the best in class systems• Experienced at Cross Team Communication: Strong flair for effective communication and collaboration - you know when to push on and when to step back. We work closely with several groups and supporting these other groups is a key part of scaling our business.• Push the bar on engineering best practices and help leadership build a strong engineering culture• Ability to Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues
