Duo + Cisco = Disco
With the Most Loved Company in Security and the global leader in network technology joining forces, there are more exciting opportunities than ever to be at the forefront of securing the cloud.
Our mission is simple: democratize security by making it easy and effective for everyone. We're transforming security from the ground up by solving the world's most pressing geopolitical challenge - safe, secure information access. We engineer our business to enable our customers to easily address their ever-evolving security challenges.
We believe that impactful work is rewarding work and that our team is at its best when everyone feels empowered to bring their whole self to work. We learn together by hiring for cultural contribution, not cultural fit, and recognize that diversity in background and thought are essential to building high-impact teams.
We invest in growth and learning opportunities and encourage our people to never stop learning. We foster collaboration and believe in being recognized (and rewarded!) for hard work. We champion a healthy work-life balance. We're kinder than necessary.
Together we build for the future by designing simple solutions for complex problems. And that's why we're the most loved and trusted name in security.
Who you'll work with...
Our app is actively used by over 20 million people and each month we process well over 300 million push notifications to protect access to their accounts and services. Today, the majority of our customers and end-users are here in America where Duo started. Our biggest initiative this year centers around taking an elegant multi-factor authentication solution global to make breaches a thing of the past. Android has a special challenge in that mission because outside of North America it's the predominant platform. We want you to join our team and help us secure the internet while growing our user experience and brand to solve problems for new markets, customers, and people.
What you'll do...
As an Android engineer on the mobile team you'll bring your native development skills in Kotlin and Java to help us protect people from harmful breaches and data loss. Our problem to solve is access and inclusion to ensure effective security for all. We are a product company that takes a pragmatic approach to what we do. You will work alongside a group of hard-working and dedicated engineers and designers who take a human-centered approach to development at all phases of the software development lifecycle.
We value ownership, empower autonomous thinking, and emphasize software craftsmanship. We live our values through a development culture of openness and collaboration. We prioritize team success highest and tend to swarm on sprint work to meet our shared goals.
Skills you have...
  • You're passionate about cybersecurity and solving real problems for real people
  • 3+ years professional software engineering experience and a history of shipping native Android Apps.
  • You can use both Kotlin and Java effectively to write performant, maintainable code using core Android SDKs and understand Material Design concepts.
  • You value automated testing as much as writing expressive clean code.
  • Experience with libraries like: Kotlin Coroutines, Retrofit/OkHttp, Robolectric, Firebase, Google Play Services APIs, and Android Keystore
  • Bonus Points for any of the following: WCAG and ADA compliance, Advanced skills with UI/Layout/Animations, Testable app architectures and approaches like MVVM, dependency injection with Dagger, advanced Gradle skills, CI configuration, Android Architecture components (e.g., Room, LiveData, patterns), data persistence/storage, security expertise, authentication, cryptography, or advanced networking orchestration.

Even better if...
  • You want to continue to hone and develop your skills in a successful product development organization
  • You value inclusion and make it a priority to create accessible application experiences that work for everyone

If this role is exciting to you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all 100% of the description or qualifications. Passion over perfection.
