What's the role?
As a technical, hands-on Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) your job is to participate in the manual & automation testing of our web and mobile based application. You will be under the guidance of a Principal SDET of a team with an already-established, mature testing process. Your role will be that of a "full-stack" QA Engineer - someone who has a strong appreciation and skill in software engineering with the capability of writing manual & automated and performance tests (time and training is allotted after hiring to learn our tech stack and frameworks).

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to an agile team by driving user story analysis and feature grooming, designing, and developing thorough test scripts
- Automated manual test data creation process by building custom API Routes
- Proven experience on writing complex API tests which interface with upstream services or databases
- Design and implement manual test suites by writing test plan/test cases / etc.
- Attend and contribute to sprint planning and take ownership of testing responsibility to ensure successful product releases
- Design, implement and maintain cross-platform test automation scripts
- Maintain the functional test portion of the Continuous Integration pipeline
- Develop and maintain BDD test scenarios and regression plans
- Participate in full test development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
- Work with developers to provide additional research and debugging of issues when more information is needed to resolve problems
- Demonstrate technical leadership
- Establish, aggregate, and share team standards and best practices
- Able to utilize working relationships across divisions to implement holistic solutions
- Responsible for writing testable code, constructing valuable unit tests, and implementing all of the organization's code quality standards and practices within the code.
- Handles bug fixes, develop features, and write highly testable code with appropriate tests in place
- Help define and maintain project backlog
- Mentor, guide and assign work to junior engineers
- Utilize established monitoring and automation processes
- Creates report / metrics, defining key findings for stakeholders.

- 6+ years of QA Engineering experience
- 4+ years of professional experience as a QA Automation Engineer working in an agile environment
- 4+ years of mobile Testing Experience (iOS/Android)
- 2+ years of RESTful services automation experience
- Strong analytic and debugging skills
- Thorough understanding of QA concepts, STLC, SDLC, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
- Demonstrated experience in automating tests with using JS, Java, Python, or other languages
- Solid understanding of different element locator strategies and the ability to write custom XPath, CSS Path
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, REST APIs, JSON, RDBMS, XML/YAML. XCODE, ANDROID STUDIO
- Experience with Git, Jira
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking, ownership mindset and continuous learning.
- Experience using continuous integration and deployment concepts
- At least 3-5 years of experience with specific technical requirements/platforms (i.e., Java, JavaScript, .NET, Python).
- Proven expertise in public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Azure, Containerization)"
- Proven results delivering within an application engineering team.
- Proven experience mentoring team members (whether other developers or SDETs).
- Advanced skillset in one or more assigned, relevant technologies
- Capable of communicating between product, engineering, and stakeholders
- Manages own time to meet objectives
- Drives peer reviews on code and architectural application design"
- Extensive background in shift left testing practices with a strong emphasis on writing highly testable code and unit testing.
- Test Driven Development (TDD) experience.
- Previous experience with test automation, performance management and test design.
- Solid understanding of non-functional testing concepts.
- Exhibits a solid understanding of NM's business model, how the HO and Field work together, and how the work supports the enterprise.
- Deep understanding of business area's products, process, and interdependencies.
- Solid understanding of the systems and processes that support the applicable business domain.
- Significant practical experience developing software in coding language(s) used in support.
- Significant experience using language-specific testing frameworks relevant to their work.
- Experience with REST / SOAP services and clients.
- Working knowledge of the Spring Framework and Junit
- Experience writing and debugging multithreaded Java applications.
- Experience with GitHub or Gitlab for source code management
