Location: Cary, NC - Hybrid work arrangement. (In office 3 days per week. Remote 2 days per week.)
Role Value Proposition:
MetLife's Employee Experience organization is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Full Stack Engineer to work as a member of our strategic Data and Integration product team. In this role, the candidate will work collaboratively within a DevOps team to participate in the design and engineering of a modern data platform supporting data workloads including business intelligence, data analytics and online operational data stores. This is an exciting opportunity to enable Digital Transformation through Cloud Acceleration by working hands-on with data model design, data acquisition, data curation and data integration.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Reverse engineer existing systems to re-engineer in modern data and cloud architecture
  • Retrieve data from multiple systems of record into Data Lake
  • Develop scalable and reusable data pipeline frameworks that ensure flexibility and maintainability
  • Develop data pipelines to move data from raw state to curated and delivery zones
  • Engineer end to end data solutions in support of Employee Experience and Human Resource business objectives
  • Assists in the creation of architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platform
  • Participate in the collection and documentation of user requirements as well as the development of user stories and estimate
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as scrum, grooming, retrospective and PI Planning
  • Participates in technical design, development, implementation, and maintenance of application systems


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:

  • 5+ years of experience architecting and implementing end to end data solutions including data platforms, data models, data integrations and data access
  • Hands on experience with one or more of the following: Writing ETL, ELT, Data Pipelines, transactional data stores, Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses and/or Data Marts
  • Experience consuming data from other systems using APIs, Secure File Transfers and/or Message Bus
  • Experience programming in one or more of the following languages including Python, SQL, PL/SQL, C#/.NET
  • Ability to understand user stories and/or business requirements with ability to implement in required language or technologies


Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Employee Experience and Human Resources industry experience
  • Experience with modern data architectures (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store, etc) and strategies and applying them to solve business needs
  • Experience designing various types of data models (relational, star schemas, document, columnar) with a foundational understanding of when to apply each
  • Experience with Azure Cloud and Azure PaaS platforms, particularly ADLS, Data Factory, Azure SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Data Bricks, Service Bus and Events Hub
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus
  • Linux and shell scripting experience
  • Experience in Data Science, Machine learning or statistical analysis is a plus
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with DevOps tooling and mindset
  • Experience creating data governance artifacts such as data dictionaries, data lineage or data glossaries
