About the job
The Red Hat Customer Identity and Access Management team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse and innovative team responsible for the key authentication, authorization, and user management service for Red Hat's open hybrid cloud platform, sso.redhat.com, and its surrounding integrations. You will work on the full-stack design, development, testing, and release of single sign-on (SSO) and related applications, with a focus on engineering productivity and reliability. While we revamp this service for the next generation of Red Hat cloud products, you will closely collaborate with the Red Hat Single Sign-On team and contribute to the upstream Keycloak community and Keycloak.X project. You will contribute to the team's capabilities by demonstrating technical competence, exceptional communication skills, personal initiative, creativity, desire to learn, transparency, and ability to work as part of a team. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Design, develop, test, maintain, and operate primarily Java applications across large, multi-region deployments in tight collaboration with your peers
  • Contribute to the reliability of Red Hat Single Sign-On offering or to the various types of integrations with other Red Hat offerings and back-end systems
  • Contribute to application release processes with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and OpenShift operators
  • Contribute to observability instrumentation and monitoring tools, providing feedback and updates upstream
  • Build custom extensions for Red Hat SSO while working with that project's open source community to grow the platform for Red Hat customers
  • Participate in application support rotation


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or other closely related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Java or other object-oriented languages
  • Experience running and observing services and applications in production, especially in a microservices or event-driven architecture
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a distributed team
  • Good understanding of core concepts related to application security
  • Ability to quickly learn new domains and technologies
  • Familiarity with OAuth2 and OpenID Connect
  • Experience using relational database management system (RDBMS) like MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL
  • Experience working with distributed source control such as Git, including branching and merging
  • Good understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery tools and processes
  • Good understanding of DevOps principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes or Linux Containers is a plus
  • Familiarity or practical experience with Keycloak project or Red Hat SSO offering and core features is a plus
