Position Overview

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is responsible for building and shaping product excellence by ensuring all production systems are more reliable, efficient, and scalable to maximize Verra Mobility and customer quality satisfaction. In addition, this role plays a key part in change & release management as well as application environment quality, stability and security.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Understanding, implementing, and updating the Continuous Delivery Strategy
  • Building quality in, delivering value to customers, and automating manual creation/build/deployment steps to avoid any manual intervention
  • Collaborate with team to suggest application design to promote Continuous Delivery.
  • Continuous review of DevOps tools and ensuring their proper use.
  • Scripting environment creation and promote Infrastructure as Code
  • Working with the team to continuously improve solutions
  • Coaching other team members in DevOps technologies and processes
  • Documentation of release processes and their continued improvement
  • Setup tools (eg. CloudWatch, Kibana, PagerDuty) to measure key metrics and alert stakeholders
  • Ensuring the appropriate DevOps tasks are scheduled during release and sprint planning
  • Actively collaborate with team to clarify requirements, especially in terms of design, ops requirements
  • Participating proactively in daily stand-up meetings, story grooming sessions, team retrospectives, suggesting and implementing improvements
  • Own environments and ensuring completeness, availability and control flow of changes through lower environments.
  • Automate environment creation to ensure repeatable process and provide ability to spin up, tear down environments at will.
  • Participate in change management, helping to define key quality gates and improvement of processes and interacting closely with Global IT.
  • Ownership of the release management process from an Engineering perspective, interact with all key stakeholders to plan and communicate release schedules
  • Work closely with the Delivery Manager and Scrum Masters to ensure prioritized work can be delivered in agreed timelines


  • 10+ years of enterprise software testing and/or development skills.
  • Experience building and automating the deployment processg
  • BA/BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Cloud certified Professional (AWS, K8s, Azure, etc)
  • Skilled in test-driven development, test automation & continuous delivery
  • Strong technical skills demonstrated by experience with programming or scripting languages
  • Skilled with ELK/EFK, Artifactory/Nexus, Git, Bash, Java, Ant, Maven, Bamboo/Jenkins, Docker
  • Familiar with DevOps tools like Cloud formation, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Helm, Terraform
  • In depth knowledge in networking and load balancing
  • Promote DevOps culture.
  • Skilled in setting it up continuous delivery pipeline from scratch.
  • Skilled in *nix environments, including console only.
  • Understand IT Security in the Cloud and implement.
  • To show a commitment to ongoing professional development through self-learning, professional training, participation in open source projects, attending conferences etc.
  • Skilled in setting up web servers like nginx and httpd.
  • Deep knowledge of development, configuration management, test integration and system administration.
  • Work collaboratively and productively with all colleagues, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accurate documentation of all processes and procedures
  • Effective communication to all stakeholders on matters of change/release
  • Bring operational reliability aspect back to the product teams and work collaboratively to build more reliable and operational products.
  • Continuous improvement through learning of new technologies, skills and certifications
  • Working on various operational tasks such as product upgrade, platform upgrade and troubleshooting the environment during incidents.
  • Environments are kept up to date with relevant releases, security, and 3rd party (eg. docker, k8s) patches
  • Define best practices that cover all aspects of release process to make sure projects are released using consistent and repeatable methodologies
  • Accurate and timely recording of project delivery effort.
  • Actively engage in conversations regarding WHS, including providing potential improvements to reduce WHS risks
  • Understand and adhere to the requirements of the WHS management system
  • Immediately communicates and report hazards and incidents.
