Title: Senior Security Engineer

Duties: The Senior Security Engineer at Earnest LLC in Salt Lake City, UT will participate and/or lead the selection, design, and implementation/operation of platform and operational level controls. Install and maintain security infrastructure, including IPS/IDS, log management, and SIEM systems. Accountable for information security, compliance, and trust and safety. Involved in multiple work streams, each employing a diverse set of technology solutions and operational processes. Work closely with the platform and infrastructure squads, while also assisting in product and development processes, risk management and technology governance, fraud management, and investigations. Design, architect, and develop security solutions for Earnest’s technology platforms. Interface with Earnest stakeholders, both within and outside of engineering, to determine business and technology needs/requirements. Build and document technology controls. Develop and implement appropriate and effective vulnerability management solutions to help mitigate threats and risks. Assist with regulatory and industry compliance activities. Lead the response to incidents, threats, and vulnerabilities, bringing these issues to resolution coordinating cross-functional teams across multiple types of assets. Represent Earnest in front of Navient and other external entities auditing Earnest. Assist with developing and growing the security and compliance program. Represent the Earnest security team in front of the organization and the Executive team. Train and develop other members in the security team. Conduct training for other engineering resources. This position is 100% remote; applicants can work from home from anywhere in the United States.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, plus 5 years of software and security development experience with either functional or imperative languages. The 5 years of experience must include 5 years of experience with each of the following: (1) AWS and AWS services; (2) containers, microservices and the risks associated with these systems; (3) performing security-focused code reviews; (4) human and non-human identity, authentication and authorization; and (5) operating and securing CI/CD environments.
