As a Process Engineer in the Thin-Films CVD/Diffusion development team, and with a focus on High-K dielectric DRAM cell materials, you will be primarily responsible for starting, developing and optimizing new and current ALD processes and their treatments, working to improve module performance, product quality and reliability, process yield, cost reduction, productivity improvements and risk management, as well as resolving manufacturing line problems. As part of Micron's Technology Development (TD) Organization, you will work in industry-leading, state of the art semiconductor facility for next generation memory technology development. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and carrying out process, equipment and material evaluation/optimization to implement changes at process step, leading and participating in yield improvement and cost reduction activities, handling new process baseline qualifications and managing, auditing and liaising with material suppliers to achieve quality, cost and risk management objectives.
Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, optimize and characterize thin film processes to meet the requirements of state of the art DRAM technology
  • Develop and monitor quality control plans including statistical process control (SPC) techniques
  • Tackle problems related to defect, yield, margin and reliability issues
  • Support transfer processes to HVM facilities, and ensure proper documentation of requirements for equipment and facilities, metrology, quality control, and procedures
  • Design experiments and execute the wafer processing; analyze and present data conclusions and recommendations to various partners
  • Work with larger team towards module enablement to meet challenging physical and electrical-performance specifications
  • Identify and strategize key thin film challenges for next generation of DRAM technology node
  • Evaluate vendor tools and chemistries through collaborative teamwork including onsite evaluations
  • Translate product requirements into cost effective processes and innovative solutions


General Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of engineering and science fundamentals
  • In-depth knowledge of one or more disciplines- chemical engineering, material science, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering
  • In depth knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, plasma science and their direct application to thin film processes in various deposition methods
  • Expertise in thin film processes and tool variables affecting the physical, chemical and electrical properties of deposited film
  • Experience in modeling of thin film deposition is desired
  • Experience with, and understanding of various metrology and surface analysis techniques like SE, XRR, XRD, XPS, XRF, AES, AFM, SIMS, SEM-EDS, TEM etc.
  • Deep understanding of various thin film electrical evaluation methods and techniques such as leakage, impedance, capacitance for MIS and MIM structures
  • General understanding of HPCMOS is appreciated
  • Experience and/or in-depth knowledge of process ownership and development
  • Ability to work independently (highly self-motivated)
  • Skilled at DOE creation and evaluation
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience with project management


Education/Experience:

  • M.S. or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related discipline is required
  • Two to five years of hands on experience in semiconductor CVD/Diffusion fab processing is preferred
