WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Rail Signal Engineer for our Minneapolis, MN office.
Your Impact
- Oversight and management of various rail signal projects
- Ability to coordinate with clients and rail project partners
- Technical planning, design, and testing of rail signal Infrastructure
- Strong understanding of Federal Railroad Administration 234 and 236 requirements for project implementation
- Collaborate with other engineers, planners, scientific professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
- Remain current in latest transit and rail engineering techniques and practices.
- Participate in WSP's quality process for all deliverables.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering, transit, and rail experience.
- Proficient with transit and railroad engineering principles, practices, processes, and standards on major infrastructure projects, particularly railway and rail transit civil works, transit stations, bridges, and elevated structures.
- Experience with railroad and rail transit signaling for private and public transportation projects
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Proficient with transit and rail engineering principles, practices, process, and design/build on major infrastructure projects, particularly railway civil works, transit stations, bridges, and elevated structures.
- Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
- Engineer license or the ability to obtain one in 3 months.
- Design and construction experience with Metro Transit (Minnesota), Metra (Illinois), and Chicago Transit Authority for train control signaling
