About the job
The Red Hat eCommerce Learning Management System (LMS) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work as part of the external-facing eCommerce LMS (Training and Certification) team and serve as the final checkpoint before code is released to the public. You will validate a full solution, plan and run tests according to the criteria you defined for them, and assist with writing the automation tests. You'll work alongside the IT Training team and you will be encouraged to communicate your issues and solutions with them. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will also gain access to our eCommerce LMS and you'll be encouraged to train in the technologies and skills that would help you grow.
What you will do

  • Research new system solutions that are being developed
  • Be the technical point of contact for system tests
  • Gain an understanding of all the features that teams are working on
  • Create working relations with other teams and products
  • Explore various ways to run, configure, and test end-to-end solutions
  • Create, add, and maintain automation tests and tools
  • Create testing plans and test cases for various solution scenarios based on customer requirements
  • Participate in code and test plan reviews
  • Automate tests to cover your test plans
  • Debug complex systems and communicate possible failures
  • Analyze root causes for failures and advise on possible solutions
  • Find bugs and file accurate defect reports
  • Participate in design sessions
  • Help with recruiting, mentoring, and supporting new team members
  • Advance your professional skills


What you will bring

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to read, create, and modify existing shell scripts and code
  • Ability to create clear and detailed defect reports and follow bug life cycle
  • Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) tools
  • Solid understanding of quality engineering principles and processes in agile or Scrum
  • Ability to write automated tests and tools
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with other teams
