Hermeus is a startup developing hypersonic aircraft to radically accelerate air travel. At Mach 5, more than twice the speed of the supersonic Concorde, passengers will be able to cross the Atlantic in 90 minutes. On the path to hypersonic passenger aircraft, Hermeus is partnering with government agencies including the US Air Force and NASA to develop a series of autonomous aircraft that derisk the technology and solve urgent national security challenges. These products provide the data and confidence necessary to certify, produce, operate, and maintain safe and comfortable commercial aircraft. Hypersonic aircraft have the potential to create trillions of dollars of new global economic growth per year, unlocking significant resources that can be utilized to solve the world’s greatest problems.

The Vehicle Fluids and Mechanisms team is responsible for flight-fluid systems, tanks, powertrain, pumps, turbomachinery, fluid components, and mechanisms. The team is completely vertically integrated and performs system design, vehicle trades, thermal/fluid and structural analysis, detailed in-house hardware design, test, and flight duties. We iterate quickly, build solutions anchored in first principals, and drive to rapidly get to working hardware.

The Opportunity and How You'll Impact Hermeus:

  • You’ll have the opportunity to own vehicle tanks and propellant feed system design from initial concept all the way through to flight. Responsibilities will include vehicle trades, detailed hardware design, structural analysis, manufacturing, and test infrastructure build. 

About You:

  • 4+ Years of experience in design of aerospace structures
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Ability to work at Hermeus’ Atlanta Campus
  • Demonstrated history of delivering hardware and iterating in compressed timelines
  • Full lifecycle product ownership (cradle to grave)
  • Highly proficient in engineering drawing creation utilizing GD&T and surfacing in CAD.
  • Knowledgeable about metallic tank fabrication methods, design challenges, etc.
  • Strong communication with cross functional teams

Desired Multipliers:

  • 4+ years prior experience designing conformal and/or high pressure metallic or COPV tanks.
  • Specific experience using Siemens NX, Simcenter, and ANSYS
