Senior Privacy Engineer
As a Senior Privacy Engineer at Meraki, you will be a key member of a team that advances privacy by design, privacy engineering standards, and privacy goals of security and compliance in our products, services, and enterprise. You will partner with teams across the organization using your data privacy expertise to promote engineering opportunities focused on the data being processed to build privacy into development pipelines. You will use your passion for privacy engineering to build in, by design, the controls determined will meet Meraki's regulatory, legal, and business policy as a technology provider, data processor, and/or data controller.
Meraki Privacy Engineers affect change across the entire stack, from the UI and backend to the device firmware. By acting as a guardian of our customers’ data, you will have a direct, immediate, and significant impact on our customers and the hundreds of millions of users who rely on Meraki access points, switches, security appliances, cameras, and mobile device management solutions every single day to protect their privacy.

Example projects for a senior security engineer:
- Conduct Privacy Assessment of complex cloud-based systems
- Develop and Manage Risk Treatment Plan
- Manage Exceptions
- Support, Guide, and Enable teams for effective management of potential privacy risks
- Work with engineers and leaders to help prioritize and remediate privacy risks
- Collaborate with software engineers across product teams to refine the privacy of our cloud technologies and deployment practices
You are an ideal candidate if you:
- Passion for data privacy
- Promote Privacy by Design principles and can advocate for implementation best practices across development lifecycle
- Have 5+ years of experience in security or compliance testing and architecture review
- Feel comfortable using Linux and analyzing code written in multiple high-level programming languages, such as Ruby, Python, Scala, C/C++, or Javascript
- Can lead major initiatives and drive projects to completion
- Have the ability to explain sophisticated privacy problems and provide expert advice on privacy engineering and design practices
Bonus points for:
- Experience with enterprise cloud solutions and serverless applications
- A BS/MS/Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Security Engineering, or a STEM field
- Experience using source-level debuggers, hardware/JTAG debuggers, network protocol analyzers, or logic analyzers to diagnose problems at all layers of the system
