Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE), located in East Hartford Connecticut, is looking for a software/methods engineer with a love for web development. The methods team is responsible for the development, deployment, and support of game-changing repair/maintenance software which includes the automation of both technical and business processes that will enable Pratt & Whitney to continually push the state of the art in gas turbine engine repairs and reduce the cost of maintaining our parts, components, and engines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the needs of the engineering organization and translate those needs into clear software requirements which will drive the design, development, and testing of high-quality software for the engineering organization.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Setup scalable server infrastructure and databases in AWS cloud environment.
  • Develop new user-centric pages, components, and apps.
  • Ensure feasibility and excellent user experience.
  • Opportunity for full stack development and being involved in all stages of the software development process.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers.
  • Ensure good architecture and code design.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science with 10+ years' experience OR MA/MS degree in Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science with 7+ years' experience.
  • 5+ years' of experience in ANY of the following: Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, SQL, CSS.
  • US citizenship is required due to government program requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud experience, especially deploying on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
  • Experience with JS Frameworks such as React and Vue.
  • Experience with ORMs such as SQLAlchemy and Sequelize.
  • Strong developer who is comfortable learning new languages, libraries, and frameworks.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Good communication skills and working as a team player.
  • Possesses excellent business judgement and professional maturity.
  • Creative problem solver.
