About the job
The Red Hat Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Senior Platform Consultant to join us. In this role, you will work directly with Red Hat customers and partners to implement platform solutions using open source software, specifically Red Hat software. You'll work on-site with the customer to analyze, design, architect, develop, test, and deploy the solution according to the customer's business requirements. Engagements can range from single week to multi-year engagements, and every one will be assigned a delivery manager that you will work with to deliver success to customers. This is a remote position with weekly Monday to Thursday travel to client sites and can be located anywhere in North America within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business and hold an active Top Secret clearance.
What you will do

  • Routinely assess, design, and implement Red Hat's core offerings, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Satellite,Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, single sign-on, and identity management (IdM)
  • Be the subject matter expert at the client site, addressing the technical, developmental, or strategic IT needs
  • Manage problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification and design, testing, and deployment of complex open source solutions
  • Proactively assist customers with design, development, and management of their system provisioning strategy
  • Respond to incidents, escalations, and exceptions in a professional manner
  • Integrate third-party applications to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including monitoring and system performance tools and backup and restore agents
  • Develop an internal network of reach back resources in order to answer questions on technology offerings


What you will bring

  • 5+ years of technology experience like consulting, operations, development, and related internships
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux system administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or a derivative, system deployment, and system administration
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with Linux kernel internals, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, bug fix updates, and core builds
  • Proactive problem-solving and consulting skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to learn on your own and quickly pick up new technologies and best practices
  • Excellent communication skills including writing skills
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) qualification or willingness to pursue it
  • Security+ certification or willingness to achieve it
  • Minimum Top Secret security clearance
