Senior Network Engineer
GDIT is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide Network Engineering services for an exciting new contract, Defense Enterprise Office Solutions (DEOS). This position will require the employee to report full-time onsite in Fort Meade, MD or Chantilly, VA. NOTE: This position is contingent.
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for design, documentation, implementation and management of network transport services for a hybrid cloud capability. You will manage firewalls, routing tables, VLAN configurations and other typical Network Engineering tasks to enable highly available and secure communications between on-premise datacenter capabilities and cloud services.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide technical leadership in the planning, investigation, design, and implementation of physical and logical communications solutions having network-wide impact.
- Influence team members, the customer, and vendors to define, analyze, and provide solutions for the customer's voice, data, and image communications requirements.
- Prepare complex workprints and schematics to define and illustrate entire network structures and solutions.
- Identify and recommend new design tools for use in communications projects.
- Evaluate projected corporate network usage and provides and implements media solutions.
- Participate in and influences marketing proposals and studies by providing costing models, reports, and technical solutions for network-wide projects.
- Identify product modifications and influences vendors to incorporate these changes into their products.
- Plan, design, and implement network managements systems to monitor, diagnose, control, and measure performance of multiple communication networks.
- Identify, analyze, and recommend new network administrative systems for entire networks to ensure accurate network inventory and timely implementation.
Required Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (CCNA, CompTIA Security+ CE or similar)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of Network Engineering experience to include 3+ years of Cloud Service experience; additional experience / certifications may be considered in place of education
- Networking expertise (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VOIP, SSL, VPN, network topology, firewall)
- Expertise of information technology principles, methods, and techniques as well as knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment
- Expertise in DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CC-SRG) and SCCA Architectures including Cloud Access Point (CAP) architectures
- Experience with Azure
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, growth-focused environment
- Ability to motivate teams to perform exceptionally over long stretches of time and in challenging situations
- Able to report onsite as indicated above
Desired Qualifications:
- Expertise in cloud service delivery network models
- Experience with MS Office 365 design, deployment and migration
- Experience with managed service delivery models
- Experience with hybrid and cloud service delivery models
