Summary of responsibilities:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, and optimization of current and emerging network technologies to support MetLife business in over 40+ countries. This role requires expertise in many of the following network architectures, including IP route/switch, VPN access, Load Balancing, Wireless Networking, firewalls, acceleration, Cloud, SD-WAN, as well as service chaining through API integration and automation.
List of responsibilities:

  • Research, design, develop, and implement network architecture and strategy with a 3-5 year technology horizon supporting MetLife's global business
  • Manage/Lead 3-5 medium, or 2-3 large network engineering initiatives simultaneously; Liaise with technology partners and vendors to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder involvement during project lifecycle
  • Develop operational strategies such as End of Life (EOL) replacement schedules, office network moves/adds/changes, technical product roadmaps, vulnerability management processes, automation, monitoring/alerting and best practice documentation
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support in a Devops environment


Required expertise:

  • 5+ years Network Engineering with design and implementation experience for large enterprise environment
  • Expert level Cisco networking experience in any of the following: WAN Edge and Branch location Route/switch, WAAS, Wifi (Cisco Catalyst and Meraki), strong TCP/IP protocol knowledge plus ISE/TACACS and DNA-C expertise, Cloud connectivity, and firewall integration
  • Solid experience in scripting and automation within Network and Security environments, including but not limited to Python, Ansible, Powershell, REST and other APIs
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of network infrastructure components such as compute, storage, load balancing (F5), cabling, administration, network management and monitoring (SolarWinds, NetBrain, Splunk, Infoblox)


Preferred experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Professional certification such as CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, CISSP or relevant industry certification strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • International experience including support, installations, and vendor management
  • Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google) architecture and integration experience
