Position Description

As a Navigation Engineer, you will help develop and verify the INS/GPS navigation system for the Block-1B configuration of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS). You will need to develop a detailed understanding of the navigation sensors in both nominal and off-nominal conditions and their interactions and interfaces to flight computers and software. You will use that understanding to help create software models that integrate with existing 6-DOF simulations and navigation software.

As a Navigation Engineer, you will also develop test scenarios that will ensure models behave and interact with system avionics as expected. You will assess and analyze test data to characterize systems and to identify and isolate unexpected results and discrepancies between models and observed behaviors.

As part of the SLS Navigation team, you will provide peer review and collaborate with other members of the team.

As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to:

  • Have extensive knowledge and expertise in your own discipline and broad knowledge of related disciplines,
  • Recommend best practices to solve complex problems and to improve products and services,
  • Work independently and provide guidance to other engineers.
