Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Waltham, MA. We are looking for a forward-thinking, collaborative, self-starter to join a team of experienced engineers to help create our manufacturing foundation as we bring our first product to market. As a core member of this engineering team your work will have a real impact and directly contribute to the commercial success of our product.

Vicarious Surgical’s novel approach to surgery uses a combination of proprietary, human-like surgical robots and virtual reality to transport surgeons inside the patient when performing minimally invasive surgery. Our technology was granted Breakthrough Device Designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which provides unique opportunities for our regulatory pathway.

Responsibilities

• Skilled in the art of complex electro-mechanical assembly
• Intuitive understanding in the interplay between various components of a complex, electromechanical system and how best to have them come together
• Design and fabricate assembly fixtures
• Oversee manufacturing process development and validation, either in-house or at contract manufacturers
• Coordinate manufacturing and production requirements, and lead internal cross-functional project teams across various functional areas to include R&D, Quality, Production Planning, and external customers
• Generate and document labor standards for complex assembly processes
• Experienced in design for manufacturing and the ability to express necessary changes to the design team
• Work with third-party vendors and contract manufacturers to produce parts
• Solve problems that require engineering mastery as well as creativity
• Able to work independently and autonomously when necessary
• Effectively communicate feedback and ideas to team members
• Confidence founded on sound engineering principles and experience
• Working in a cleanroom environment

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5-8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a highly regulated industry; medical device company experience is helpful, but not required
• Skilled in using Solidworks
• Experience transferring products from R&D to manufacturing
• Proven track record of excellence and creativity in the manufacturing domain
• Previous direct management of vendors and contract manufacturers
• Experience with Quality Systems, familiar with CMM (common measuring tools)
• Experience with materials, fabrication methods and their limitations
