About This Role
LivePerson is growing fast, and we want our technology to keep up. We’re forming a team that’s focused on the next generation of non-functional testing - Chaos Testing, Synthetics Testing, and Stress Testing. We’re seeking a Sr. Software Engineering Manager to help define how we bring these disciplines to LivePerson.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Educating engineering teams on the benefits and best practices of the types of non-functional testing
- Owning the design, plan, and delivery of services & tools that engineering teams use to perform advanced non-functional testing, both manually and automatically as part of deployment pipelines
- Owning programs to 1) spread adoption of non-functional testing, and 2) run surprise drills where we intentionally try to break controlled environments to see if our services automatically recover in the ways they should
- Building, leading, and mentoring a team of engineers
- Developing and reports on key performance metrics for your services
- Enabling your team to move better and faster by removing bottlenecks and handling escalations
- Evaluating tradeoffs in difficult situations and recommending the best path forward to senior leadership
Your Qualifications Are
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent training or work experience.
- 5+ years of experience leading software development teams & efforts
Preferred Qualifications
- Track record of shipping great software on time
- Proven ability to hire, train, and retain a team of talented individuals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to adapt communication style to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences
- Experience creating clarity from ambiguity
- Experience with non-functional testing of microservice architectures, especially Chaos Testing, Synthetics Testing, and Stress Testing
- Experience evaluating architectures that scale with volume and are fault-tolerant
- Experience evaluating cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability, in both private and public cloud environments
- Experience with the best practices of developing APIs in a microservice architecture
- Proven ability to work in a fully remote environment with people across the globe
