Job summary
The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will manage a QE team leading the effort of delivery for microservices associated with cloud.redhat.com. You'll manage teams of highly technical engineers and managers working together to create direction, priorities, and culture. You'll work together with peer stakeholders around the world to guide these teams, projects, and initiatives, continually developing and improving our testing process. As a Senior Manager, you'll need to have experience working in team management within a fast-paced, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment as well as passion for improving customer product experience, the processes used to rapidly release high-quality software, and the means to catch software escapes before customers notice.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Focus on customer requirements and use cases to guide and supervise the efforts of teams to deliver high-quality software
  • Learn, maintain, and grow your team's QE strategy, ensuring alignment with the offering, the team, and the larger business strategy or priorities
  • Establish objectives and key results (OKRs), KPIs, and metrics to create data-driven decision making throughout your teams
  • Coordinate work-related tasks of your teams, creating transparency, establishing a roadmap, and highlighting priorities and specific goals which need to be accomplished
  • Energize and inspire teams to succeed, including by leading through Open Management Principles, guiding career development or enablement plans, coaching, and mentoring
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders to secure support for your teams and the successful delivery of your team's priorities
  • Maintain consistency of our offerings throughout the life cycle of the offering, including the design, definition, and deployment phases through the use of quality checkpoints and testing
  • Contribute to risk analysis and actively communicate throughout rapid release deployments of our offerings
  • Own the solution and be responsible for feature delivery, quality, and performance of your teams


Required skills

  • Ability to thrive on taking on new challenges and to work as part of a fast-moving, technical, cross-functional, collaborative team, while valuing open culture and open source
  • Ability to connect and guide teams through rapid change and maintain focus while delivering strategic initiatives
  • Experience managing larger technical globally distributed software engineering teams in a technology-oriented company; 7+ years of experience working in a people management role
  • Experience managing agile technical teams while working in a service-oriented continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) environment
  • Experience with the microservices architecture, Kubernetes, or similar cloud technologies
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels within a company and with those from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to balance a variety of tasks, prioritize, and work well under pressure
  • Ability to identify potential, develop, and motivate your team
  • Experience with Linux, Python, Selenium, and Tableau is a plus
  • Experience with open source software projects and development model is a plus
